Meet Lisa Maestri, LCSW
If you've tried therapy before and it didn't quite work, or you're looking for someone who actually gets it - you're in the right place.
I've spent over 25 years helping people find their way out of hopelessness and into lives that feel genuinely theirs. My clients often come to me after trying other therapists who didn't quite get them, or after years of believing change just wasn't possible.
I'm direct, compassionate, and unconventional - someone who will genuinely see you, challenge you when needed, and walk alongside you as you create lasting change.
How I Work
Traditional talk therapy doesn't always reach the places where we hold pain. That's why I blend psychotherapy with somatic experiencing and mindfulness to help you access healing on multiple levels.
We'll talk—insight matters. But we'll also pay attention to what your body is telling us, use creative approaches when words aren't enough, and develop practical strategies you can use outside our sessions.
I'm an IMAGO-trained couples therapist, helping partners slow down and truly hear each other. I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you understand the different parts of yourself. And as a Certified JourneyDance™ Facilitator, I bring unique understanding of how embodiment unlocks transformation.
The result? Therapy tailored to you—not a formula, but a genuine partnership.

Beyond Therapy
I'm a former music major who still loves to sing, a runner training for one half marathon a year, and a photographer who finds peace behind the lens. I'm happiest by the ocean, listening to the waves.
These aren't just hobbies—they're reminders that reconnecting with what brings us alive is essential. Whether it's movement, creativity, nature, or music, we all need ways to come home to ourselves. I bring that belief into every session.
Let's see if we're a good fit
I work with adults, teens, and couples in McLean and Virginia Beach, offering both in-person and telehealth throughout Virginia and Maryland.
The best way to know if we're a good fit? Let's talk.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation.
